Michael Babbitt (Artistic Director) is an M.F.A. recipient from the University of North Carolina Professional Actor Training Program. For the Open Door Theatre he has appeared as Jake in Sam Shepard's "A Lie of the Mind," McMurphy in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," Iago in "Othello" and as Jim in "Nice People Dancing to Good Country Music"and most recently in "Death and the Maiden" and "Les Liaisons Dangereuses." He co-directed the summer show "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) - 1999," and directed "Ghosts," by Henrik Ibsen and "Tracers" by John deFusco and Ensemble and "12th Night" by William Shakespeare. He has worked extensively in the theatre throughout Iowa, Chicago and Missouri, as well as North Carolina. He has performed in numerous PlayMakers Repertory Company productions, including "Othello" and "A Little Night Music," directed by renowned director David Hammond; "Macbeth," directed by David Wheeler; and "The Seagull," directed by Michael Wilson. He appeared in the title role of "Richard III," Romeo in Burning Coal's production of "Romeo and Juliet" (directed by Rebecca Holderness) and Oberon/Theseus in StreetSigns "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (directed by Brad Shelton.) Michael is a member of the Actors' Equity Association.
Jennifer Bauer (Managing Director) has many years of theatre experience working on productions in Dallas, Texas and Atlanta, Georgia. Favorites include "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" (chorus),"The House of Bernarda Alba" (props), "A Winter's Tale" (costumes), and "Sabrina Fair" (sound design). Jen's recent Stage Managing duties took her through "Othello," "Tracers," "Les Liaisons Dangereuses," and "12th Night." She has been the Stage Manager for every one of the Open Door Theatre's productions and is currently preparing to direct the revival of "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)." She is also writing her dissertation in art history for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Benjamin Beecher (Volunteer Coordinator and Donor Recognition) appeared as Sir Andrew in "12th Night," Daunceny in "Les Liaisons Dangereuses," Ben in "The Bible: The Complete Word of God (Abridged)," Dasher in "The Eight: The Reindeer Monologues," Professor in "Tracers," Ben in "The Complete History of America (Abridged.)," Montano in "Othello," Chief Bromden in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," and as Ben in "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) - 1999." He has enjoyed a long stretch of classical work, including "The Country Wife," "Richard II," "Richard III," "Romeo and Juliet," "Antigone," and as the lovesick Orsino in "Twelfth Night." Benjamin has trained at the North Carolina School of the Arts and the Oxford School of Drama in England.
Carolyn Busse (Publicity Coordinator) spent four seasons on the administrative staff of PlayMakers Repertory Company in Chapel Hill. She is currently the Communications Coordinator for the Sheps Center for Health Services Research (a World Health Organization research center) at UNC-Chapel Hill. This is actually one of the few rare photographs able to capture this notoriously shy publicity expert.
Anthony Fichera (Dramaturg) comes to us from the world of Dramaturgy and has been the Dramaturg for every production of the Open Door Theatre. He has also been Dramaturg for various theatres, including Yale Repertory Theatre, Center Stage (Baltimore), Back Street Theatre (Tallahassee), PlayMakers Repertory Company (NC), Raleigh Theatre in the Park, SUNY-Purchase Arts Center and Burning Coal Theatre Company. In addition to his dramaturg duties, Anthony was seen as Martini in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." and as himself - the one man band - in "The Complete History of America (Abridged.)" Education: Yale School of Drama (MFA), Florida State University (Ph.D.).

Rob Kramer (Development) holds a M.F.A. in drama from UNC's Professional Actor Training Program. He has been acting and directing in theatre, TV and film for more than fifteen years. For the Open Door Theatre he has directed "Les Liaisons Dangereuses," "Nice People Dancing to Good Country Music," "Othello," The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) - 1999 and "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." He appeared as Frankie in the inaugural production of Sam Shepard's "A Lie of the Mind" and Dinky Dau in "Tracers." He has been seen locally in many productions at PlayMakers Repertory Company, including "Macbeth," "The Visit," and "The Nutcracker." Rob is the founder of Playground Theatre Company, a non-profit social outreach organization that worked with school-aged children in the U.S. and Europe to promote the importance of imagination and creativity in everyday life. Rob is a member of Actors' Equity Association.
  Steve Dubay includes among his recent Triangle lighting designs, the Cisco Systems Benefit for the Food Bank of NC, "The Nutcracker" for City Ballet of Raleigh. For the Open Door Theatre Steve has been the designer on "Les Liaisons Dangereuses," "12th Night," "Tracers," "Othello" and "Nice People Dancing to Good Country Music."
Kevin Poole is thrilled to be working with The Open Door Theatre. Recently seen as Feste in "12th Night." he also appeared with The Open Door in "The Eight: The Reindeer Monologues" and "Tracers." Over the last year Kevin has also appeared in "Uncle Tom's Cabin" with Burning Coal Theatre Company, "This Is Our Youth" with ManBites Dog, and a staged reading of "August Snow" by Reynolds Price at Duke. Kevin also plays the tabor in the band Cody Cods and works at the Duke Department of Theater Studies.

Matthew Bennett appeared as Sergeant Williams in "Tracers," Mike in Sam Shepard's "A Lie of the Mind" and Dale Harding in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." He has also appeared as John of Gaunt and Buckingham in "Richard II" and "Richard III," respectively. Film and commercial credits include the role of Pin in the feature length Big Shoe production of "Cold War," and the Deadbeat Dad P.S.A. for the state of North Carolina. He aspires to have a successful career in Talkies.
Elizabeth Carroll was seen as Catherine in the Open Door Theatre's production of "Nice People Dancing to Good Country Music," Sandy in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and Bianca in "Othello." For Theatre in the Park she played the title role in "Anastasia," Calpurnia in "Julius Caesar" and Viola in "Twelfth Night." She also appeared in Pint of Bastard's "Richard II" and "Richard III," Burning Coal's "Love's Labours Lost," and numerous student productions at UNC, including "The Tempest" and "Dr. Faustus."
Michael Rhyne appeared as Osvald Alving in The Open Door Theatre's "Ghosts," Cheswick in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and as himself in The Open Door Theatre's production of "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) - 1999." He directed "The Complete History of America (Abridged)" and "The Bible: The Complete Word of God (Abridged)." For Pint of Bastard he played Bullingbroke in "Richard II" and Clarence in "Richard III." For PlayMaker's Repertory he appeared as Henrik Egerman in "A Little Night Music," directed by David Hammond. And for Burning Coal Theatre he appeared as Paris in "Romeo and Juliet," directed by Rebecca Holderness. He also worked with the Snow Camp Outdoor Theatre and is a former President of the UNC Pauper Players.

Michael is currently plying the waters of Alabama as he pursues his M.F.A. with Alabama Shakespeare.

Shannon Roberts, a Playmakers Professional Actors Training Program graduate, comes from New York where she performed a one-person show at Synchronicity Space Theatre and NADA 45. Other New York credits include readings for Manhattan Theatre Club and the Signature and Abington Theatres. She participated in the New Harmony Project, where she worked with playwrights on developing new scripts such as "Nine Armenians." Favorite roles include Titania in "A Midsummer Night's Dream," Hecuba in "The Trojan Women," and Solange in "The Maids." Favorite directing credits include "Delores," "Becket," and "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." For the Open Door Theatre, Shannon appeared as Eva June in "Nice People Dancing to Good Country Music."
